Hi all,

here's a simple elastomer X-coupling, what's pretty easy to adopt for reprap:

Nice thought.
Even if we have to machine the claws from brassrods (should be fairly simple)
the inlet itself maybe printable

Although I like the "starshaped" more, those are definately easier to make at home.

This ones were used in 'stone-old' XY-dataplotters from "Gould"

Some years ago i was employed at "Gerwah" ( [www.gerwah.com] ) where i started and activated as spin-off [www.gerwahmikro.de] here i developed and built some very special systems - here a photo of a medium-sized mikro-coupling and a pin (in comparison to [www.gerwah.com] ) winking smiley

Hi sid,

i didn't have them in stock - but when we have some specific dimensions, i think i'll get them in bulk with a special price ...

Just as an amusing, but possibly useful, aside. Related to reprap I am also participating in a technical group that is interested in electrical discharge machining (EDM). One guy is building a sink EDM machine. Sink EDM machines have a ram with a lead screw actuator. The lead screw has to be attached to either a stepper motor or a gearmotor in a good feedback loop.

This guy in my group made a coupling between the lead screw and the gear motor driving his ram with an unusual product known as shoe goo.

It's used for a lot of things by some very odd people. I first ran across it when it was used by professional snipers to build their ghillie suits. Anyway, here is the reference that I came across in my user group.

... hmm ... maybe good for finishing brittle or delicate surfaces?

How's the price and the settling time?

... 2 to 4 hrs settling-time, 24 to 72 hrs full curing ...

If with heating the settling-time could be reduced to some minutes, then this could be a good resin for fabbing at room-temp and curing with a IR-tube.
