Minimum speed for extruder?

Minimum speed for extruder?

I was reading old posts and came across something to indicate that maybe the extruder doesn't work at very low speeds. (Sorry, reading through all the old posts lately, and I don't remember where I saw the comment)

This is a bit of a concern for me - my table only moves at 2.5mm/sec right now.

So what is the minimum/maximum axis translation for the current mk II extruder design? Including stretching for the max, max useful filament diameter for the min?

I'd think there's some sort of minimum somewhere. A speed below which the extruder motor doesn't turn, and a filament size that either the extruder can't plow through to continue extruding, or that is to big to form useful parts for the darwin.

I've got a Darwin running at a 3mm/s extrusion rate. That's definitely not the slowest it can go.

I think they old version, without the gears, has a problem going slowly unless you use a shaft encoder. The new version, with gears, will have a problem going quickly!
