bar clamp fix

Has anyone seen this broken bar clamp fix using a tiewrap (ziptie) before (see pic)? I thought it would be good for that. I was evaluating it for a bar clamp substitution. Note that the nuts on the threaded rod can only be hand tightened or else they push the smooth rod away from the threaded rod (pic01) and create issues with getting bars parallel. Just use temporary threadlock on the nuts to keep them from moving. It seems pretty sturdy with a 3/16 tiewrap.

I came up with this just to try to get my mendel prusa up and running for the first time and I am looking for a printed bar-clamp substitute. My friend who is printing parts for me is having difficulties with his gen1 makerbot, and I am trying to reduce the printed parts list and hand-fabricating some parts for a minor bootstrap. So any suggestions would be appreciated. The endstop brackets, belt brackets and z-couplers are on the to-drop list with the bar clamps.

Great idea: they are pretty tough when you need to break them!
