hall effect sensors as cheap and accurate limit switches?
October 15, 2010 11:10AM
Is anyone doing this? I just found some cheap (54 cent) sensors: [www.digikey.com] I had no idea they were so cheap. They look cheaper than opto endstops and inductive sensor endstops, and just about par with just using electronic push button switches.

nophead, back in 2007 talks about using them on his x-y table, but is sounds like the table came with them installed. Is anyone else using them? [hydraraptor.blogspot.com] It looks like they'll have great repeatability.

Search of the forum shows some chatter regarding use with DC motors, that's it.

I am using hall effect sensors and small neodynium magnets as end stops, works perfectly!
