Single-side PCBs or solving problem with double-side PCBs

Hi everybody,

I need a single-side PCB or a way to solve my problem with double-side (or two-side) PCBs. My problem is that here is not someone to make me double-side PCB with connecting two side of them. Here say "Metalizing" for that. Sorry for my bad English.

Regards, Mehdi

1. Drill hole
2. place wire through hole
3. solder wire on each side

This does not work for wires that are under the electronic parts. These wires are called vias.

Commercial method -- requires something called "conductive ink"
1 Drill hole
2 paint inside of hole with "conductive ink" so ink flows through hole.
3 electroplate board so "metal" sticks to the inside of the hole
4 mask off parts of board where copper is not to be removed, including plated hole.
5 etch off excess copper
6 plate board with chemicals to cover copper with tin or nickel gold alloy.

Thanks for your help. My problem is with that you called "vias"! The commercial methods deal with high scale, not only one or two one! So what can I do?

... in past i used tubular rivets for througholes under parts - here is a german distributor for this rivets ...

You can make similar rivets from thin brass-tubes - cut a smal piece, bend a collar on one side, insert from top in the PCB, solder the collar to the pad, then populate as normal and solder the specific pins from the bottom together with the tube ...

Can I drill another hole beside the original hole and then "place wire through hole and solder wire on each side"? Is this works?

... depends on part-density, and you should solder the top-side before populating - but is possible too ...

This company does a product for low volume prototyping: [www.tecnologiatecom.com]. You push a paste down the via holes with a squeegee and then bake in an oven.

... if you have enogh space beside your pad, you can drill a small hole, insert a piece of wire and solder the upper end of the wire to the pad on the top side.

After you inserted the electronic part, you turn the PCB upside down, bend the other end of the wire to the pad and solder the wire here too ...

With a tubular rivet you make essentially the same, but without an extra hole ...
