ATX 20/24 - please clarify

Hey people

Looking at the ATX PSUs on ebay most say they have a 20/24 pin connector... on the makerbot built motherboard the plug is a 20 pin plug.

Am I going to need to get a 24 - 20 pin adapter or is it in fact a 20 pin with an additional 4 pin which makes the 24 pin connector?

Just don't want to buy a psu and find I still need to sort the plugs out.

thanks for any advice / clarification.

I don't remember about my newest PC, but the PSU in my old PC had a detachable 4 pin plug beside the 20 pin, like this:

But if you get one which is not detachable, a few extra pins enclosed in plastic will not pose problems for a small hacksaw. *dremel smiley*

As long as there is nothing in the way on the PCB you can plug the bigger connector in with the extra 4 pins hanging over the end.
