Melzi 2.0 motor drivers temps
July 30, 2015 09:24AM
Just finished my Hesine 505, It's a Prusa i3 clone with the melzi v2.0 board.

I was running the printer after I finished it and got all the software working and finally connected to the
controller board.
It probably ran a total of 3 to 4 minutes and I stopped it to check everything. Noticed the stepper drivers on the Melzi board are pretty hot.
You can touch them but not for long. I didn't have a chance to put my IR temp meter to it and read the actual temp.
What would be considered normal with these drivers. I want to say it has the 4988 drivers but I cant find it
anywhere in the documentation.

Any Ideas or am I overly concerned over nothing?

Did you set the motor current pots to get the correct reference voltages for the motor currents you want?

Not yet, as usual there is nothing in the build instructions about that.
That was my next setp but I wanted to find out what normal is for the temp of the drivers.
I imagine there is a link somewhere on here for the proceedure to set them, I've seen a few posts about it
but haven't run across the exact procedure yet.
