Gen6 Board Thermister troubles

Hi Folks. First post so please be gentle

I am helping a friend out with his 3DStuffmaker Evolution printer. It uses the Gen6 board so we are on somewhat common ground.

Unfortunately he has been having big troubles with it - and has cooked his printhead. It heats but the insides are carbonised. New one is on it's way. I did try and dismantle the printhead however it was difficult re heat fragility.

Now - what I have been able to check is this.

1. Thermister in current head is open circuit - hence runaway heating.
2. If I connect a variable resistor (resistor wheel 1m to 1ohm) to replace the thermister I can get the heating LED to cut off at about 1K, and turn on at anything higher with Prontoprint set to 185c.

I am not sure re the correct values that the Gen6 is expecting re the temps. It this within guidelines or will I need to start to break out my Arduino programming skills.

Many thanks for any advice you can give.
Dave
