Standby generator- is that a good option for continue power supply?

Hello All,
I am new to this forum. I am a little bit confused about the frequency or power of a standby generator. I am looking for a standby generator that can solve power cut problems with automatic change over with fuel efficiency. If you have any kind of suggestions, you all are welcome with your suggestions... smiling smiley

If your power supply to your house is so bad that you need a generator to run your reprap then maybe running it off a car battery might be an idea.

Leave the charger perminantly connected and also grab a 500watt inverter to run your PC off (well, it will charge a laptop, printing from an SD card would allow for a headless printer).

You would need an automotive fuse box (blade fuses) too, for safety.

depending on where you are you might have a few options available. like a larger UPS. a couple of car batteries with a good sized inverter.

it comes down to how long you need it to run and how much money.

car batteries or marine are a good start, but be carful, they can give off hydrogen gas (if i remember right.)

so can you post more about what you need it to do or how much you can afford.
