is there any guides out there for using your multimeter testing voltages and and other associated to make sure everything setup correctly,
I am new to electronics and i know how important it is to check things thoroughly, basically points and place where i put the probes onto what it checks for and maybe a general value what it should be
i don't want to send wrong voltages to anything lol Cheers

The Gen7 -- if that's what you're using -- instructions have a section on where you need to check your voltages before hooking up any sensitive/expensive semiconductors.

I don't about RAMPS or other electronics, but you might use the knowledge from the Gen7 instructions there as well.

Just check the RAMPS 1.4 wiki.

[reprap.org]

This firmware here is a good one to put into the Arduino first

[reprap.org]

It will test all the LED's and output to all the Stepper Motors to move back and forth a little bit.

Hi !

To get an overview look in the Wikis comparison of electronics

and a second page of the Wiki alternative electronics.
