I just wanted to know if it was safe to build a Rep(st)rap with it (I mean, as soon as I gain the courage to do such a thing @_@)

I haven't heard anything about the reprap motherboard [blog.reprap.org] in a while, so for the sake of the impatient (i.e., those with courage *now*, liquid or otherwise!), can they get started with Illuminato?

Safe is a relative term. I'm happily running my reprap machine on a Pic 18f4550. Others are using different mixes of microcontrollers and IDE's. Darwins are being sold with Arduino boards currently. In a year or two that could change, depending on where technology goes.

The immortal Bruce Lee notwithstanding, I don't see the technology in Reprap solidifying any time soon. There are too many ways of skinning the proverbial Reprap cat for us to get too comfortable in that regard.
