step stick current draw

I have a ramps 1.4 board and 5 stepstick attached.

I am running from a bench power supply at 12.7v but with all the drivers maxed the draw is 0.5 amps with them all running, is this right?

when the hot end starts running the draw jumps to 2.0 - 2.3 amps.

all the drives are cool to cold. i bought the items from reprapworld.

Seems a bit low, but it depends on the resistance of the motors. E.g. a 1.65 ohm motor running at 1A will only draw an average current of about 1A * 1.65 / 12.7 = 0.13A from the supply rail.

yes, you are right,

3.1v and 2.5 amps so the resistance would be 1.25 ohm.

so the maths does work

thanks for you help.
