techzone molithic board blown stepper driver, repair?

So I managed to short out the stepper driver to my extruder while adjusting the pot....Does anyone know if it is possible to repair my electronics, or am I going to have to buy a whole new board? I was wondering if the "experimental" pin outs could be used to run an external stepper driver, or if it would be worth my time to try and de-solider the blown driver chip.

If you have two unused pins available, you could use them to run a Pololu stepper driver. Of course, you would also have to be able to recompile the firmware for your mainboard.

Alternatively, you could rework stepper driver on your mainboard. Without a rework station, removing the fried chip can be challenging - I've had success by carefully cutting the pins with a dremel tool, but carefully is the active word here - it's way too easy to damage the mainboard.
