4 pin opto's

Started wiring up our Prusa and found on the sanguinololu board the opto headers only have 3 pins but the optos have 4 wires? Anyone run into this before?

Please explain in case someone else has this issue.

There are 2 positive pins that need to be wired together

Which wires and what model of opto did you get?

It is these opto's Here and the positive pins are the ones wired together, there is a symbol on the end of the opto

You can measure the signal going into the ATmega with a multimeter. Low is < 1V, High is > 3V.

You want at least a current limiting resistor on the LED side, for an application with LED, see [reprap.org]

These optical interrupters can be attached to a Gen6 directly, because Gen6, unlike all other electronics, has the required resistors on the main board.

Hmm but I'm trying to hook them to a Sanguino that only has 3 pins which is why we wired the two + pins together

You need an endstop PCB, then. At least two designs are available.
