Stuck when feeding plastic!!
January 17, 2012 02:24PM
Hello guys,
Im having trouble with making the plastic getting fed to the extruder (after turning on the heat). It is as if it is stuck somewhere before the heating block.
It happened when I was test running the extruder (after heating the plastic) and by mistake I pressed "reverse" - since then I haven't been able to make the plastic go to the heating block and melt it.
I have been trying for some time pressing down on the plastic while the extruder is running, and no luck making the extruder eat it and melt it.
What could be the problem, any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Is your hotend still heating as before ?
Did you check that the dents which grips the filament (hobbed bolt or insert) are clean of plastic ?

You might want to disassemble your hotend and check that nothing is stuck in the filament way : thermal barrier, metal barrel...

You can try and push a piece of filament by hand in each piece to find where is the problem.
