Dear Richard/Philipa/thip/Holden or whatever other names you have:
With all the time you spend here on the forums ridiculing other's concerns, couldn't you just ship out some sumpods?
There was a link a few post above yours of some guy who already recieved his machine, so what's the problem?
Re: Any Sumpod feedback yet?

Lob I still don't get why you are so concerned. Unfortunately you don't actually know anything about what transpired between both parties. Suffice to say I knew jm from the Sheffield reprap community before either of us made a campaign.

Also I am certain that your machine would have been a higher price if not for our conversations.

Heya Richard.

Looks like a couple people have said they've received tracking numbers. Does this mean that we're going to see pictures of people opening up Sumpod boxes within, say, a week from now, guaranteed?

Most of the drama here appears to be communication (or lack thereof) problems.. If you gave a date where you absolutely guaranteed that people would start receiving machines (not tracking numbers) by, that would probably quiet down some of the speculation...

Lob I ignore most of what you say as you don't have an interest and seem to only want to cause concern.

I didn't though realise that it was acceptable for a grown person to try andcause offence by speculating that a person has a disability because he failed to deliver some machines.

i think reading about autism lob must've stumbled upon this definition:

"The three main areas of difficulty which all people with autism share are sometimes known as the 'triad of impairments'. They are:

* difficulty with social communication
* difficulty with social interaction
* difficulty with social imagination.
"

while for creating an awesome printer you don't need any of those above skills you need them very well for managing crisis like the one you're in now. people gave you many hints of how not to deal with paying supporters, jet the situation got worse and worse. critisize people critisizing you but in the end of the day there is no sumpod shipped and promises unfulfilled. if you just look at the facts that is.

if you take lobs statement as well meaning criticism, you could learn a lot and improve the supporters "experience" with you a lot. (from this thread it seems it's more of a supporters nightmare?)

Now that is some stretch to assume someone has a disability just because they dont update daily. Maybe I should tweet more.

Cannnot believe though you scoured the net to defend his actions.

I doubt lobs comments are well meaning.

Like i said stating someone has a disability just because a new venture has delays is to me odd.

you guys can put your speculation to rest for now as i have confirm he drop off my package today. it wont be until next week that i will received the package and a couple of days later i will tell you if it work. in the meantime let him finish the rest of round one off this week. hopefully..

Nice! So another one in the wild -- and across the Atlantic! (Sypher I think somewhere I saw you were in Canada?). Lets hope it arrives quickly and in perfect condition from shipping. - Eric

Regarding autism. It's a disability, but it's on a scale. Apparently, lots of exceptionally talented people in a narrow field - mathematics, physics, music, etc, actually have mild autism. To speak about disability in this day and age as a "negative" is somewhat backwards in my opinion. People with disabilities have rights like everyone else, and the discrimination they receive in society is often on a par with racism. When I suggested Richard might have "mild autism" it was merely an explanation regarding his post almost quarter of a year ago that sumpods were going out. I attached no more negative value to that statement than "Richard owns an industrial unit."

On another note, I hear the publisher of 'Where's Wally' is bringing out a "Where's Sumpod' edition.

I started this thread because I was genuinely impressed with the sumpod design (and price),.. but I'm not the kind of person to hand over money when the product hasn't been tested out in the wild.

All along I've thought that Richard was genuine, and have been annoyed at some of the negative posts,... but my faith is wavering.

@ Richard:

Please show some transparency to those of us who are genuinely interested in purchasing your product. Questions have been repeatedly asked about shipping dates, and you have not yet answered. So if you please:

How many sumpods have been shipped up to now?
How soon will the remaining ones ship from round 1/2/3?
Why (detailed explanation please) has there been such a delay?
Why have there been so many false starts (Shipping promised in 2 days, but weeks have passed since)?
Why, when there have been so many requests for more photo's and video's have you not produced them, when such an offering would silence those who are posting negatively?
How soon do you envision having sumpods "in stock" for immediate dispatch?

at least the customer suport is being tested out here in this thread:-)

while we all wait i advanced lobs waldo game to underline the elusive character of the sumpod shipping announcements:

@sypher: which number have you been in line?

lob my problem is not with the disability but with why you repeatedly feel it necessary to apply it negatively as a dig in this situation. Using it to undermine my venture and myself along with your other comments.

Although i do like the picture. Quite amusing.

Good grief.

If you stopped responding ONLY to people that you consider trolls, you might regain some credibility..

Or do you not get that some people here are just looking for answers and not just drama?
Re: Any Sumpod feedback yet?

Sorry Dave.

If you have bought one please send an email and I will phone you. Same goes for anyone else here who has bought one and needs to speak.

My focus at the moment is to get sold SUMPODs out.

One point though, to the two earlier posters who say they have bought a machine, I haven't received any emails regarding your worries. Please feel free to contact me by any of the methods outlined in my emails.

Richard

ps: thought I recognised the name, noticed some posts from you on Hackaday about Ultimaker. If you are the same one?

Yup. That's me. Mildly famous and stuff for about 20 more minutes.. smiling smiley

Sorry - I didn't buy a SUMPOD.. I'm just following all this and was hoping for some details. It looks like an interesting machine!

> My focus at the moment is to get sold SUMPODs out.

Great!

Do you have a commit date yet? A date when you guarantee that we'll start seeing pictures of people with machines or at least boxes of parts?

Thanks!

Same, Unfortunately I'm away this weekend so I wont be able to start for a bit... I might see if I can persuade my brother to paint the frame for me while I'm gone.

any word from richard about the manual?
i didn't see any in the picture.
well i guess we don't really need a manual for the beginning, it's good to see things obviously get started.
any info on how many units have been shipped and when the rest will be shipped?
Re: Any Sumpod feedback yet?

He phoned me just after I posted to make sure everything is ok, He said he would be putting build instructions up over the weekend.
Re: Any Sumpod feedback yet?

Nice!

Er.. Is it a requirement that cats always crawl into batch-1 machines? I don't think I've seen pictures of a new machine that didn't include a cat trying to decide if the bot was worthy..

Cats are curious and want to inspect new stuff popping up in their kingdom. Once the machine will start to make weird noises and emit strange smells, he will stay at a safer distance.

At the risk of restarting the MDF-is-a-sponge discussion, another option is that the cat will pee all over it..

did anyone apart von thip and fixer recieve theirs?
any feedback greatly apprechiated!

also one question:
i didn't see these screws in philipas photos:
what?

did the sumpod design change?

does anyone know how many units have been shipped as of now?
i have heard the first 13 units have been shipped, can anyone confirm that?

the official forum is unfortunately down or nearly down:-(
Re: Any Sumpod feedback yet?

there are a few other people, [sumpod.com]. (The forums have been fine for me recently) I think those screws have always been there. In the video with Philipa constructing the frame they were there... they hold the entire frame together.
