Hello everybody! Do anybody know projects for making 3D laser engraving machine?

... if only for spamming, then forget it - this thread would be deleted soon eye rolling smiley

Otherwise - this are frequency-doubled NdYAG or fiberlasers with XY-galvoscanners, so a bit above actual DIY-priceranges ...

Did you accept the message as spam because there is a link to the seller? I just wanted to ask the community and gave this link as an example sad smiley
So, I should use this YAG laser (for example):

... first post and a (possible comercial) link is the typical apperance of SEO-spammers (SEO = Search Engine Optimisation).

So if not for spamming, welcome!

The Nd:YAG-laser in your link is not frequency-doubled! - you can't mark inside glass with the 1064nm ... you'll need 532nm, what's the green in your first yt-link.

And this "frequency-doubling" is a totally different business ...

Sorry, maybe it's silly question. Why I can't use this laser:
If I know focal distance between focal plane and lens, I can make surface from dots. I understand that it will be too slow without XY-galvoscanners.

Cost to amount of power, It will take multiple passes to do what these will do.
Why go with a 200mw laser when you can have one of these.

1000mW~1200mW 450nm 445nmBlue Laser Module

High Power 2.5W 450nm Blue Laser Module TTL 12V Carving free Goggles

or for a little more this one

6W+ Laser Engraving Module

... if for "normal" engraving, then find more related infos in the specific sub-forum: [forums.reprap.org]

For 3D-marking inside of glass or other transparent materials you'll need even more power (or better energy density).

Maybe you can create some cracks inside of acrylic with one of the blue 6Watt-diodes with a "spot-creator", which will symmetrize the bad beam quality of the 6W-diode, so it can be focussed much better.

But for glass you'll need a pulsed laser with "peak energies" of some hundred Watts on a spot smaller 0,05mm diameter!

I don't need for making laser engraving machine on surface.
What can you say about this laser:

There is information about laser, what I found (in pdf file).
Does it suit for 3d engraving?

As I understand, it's 6W version of JENOPTIK JENLAS D2.3:
Also not enough power and energy density for engraving?

2. [www.ebay.com]
Does not fit wavelength of laser?

... found a datasheet for the Jenlas D2.3 - [www.findlight.net]

3 (or 5?) Watts of green (532nm) on a spot of 0.05mm would be enough to engrave dark plastic or other good absorbing materials, but for engraving inside glass you'll need much higher energy densities! This is mostly done with pulsed lasers, where the "averaged" power is in the range of 20 to 60Watts, but the peak pulse energy is above some Kilowatts!

The laser in your second link has not 10 Watts, but only 0,5Watts! - look on the stated power in the second image ...

I asked seller two times about characteristics of this laser, but he didn't answer me.

What do you want to engrave?

Glass --- tough -- need high power and the right frequencies

I want to engrave inside glass.
In first URL, I didn't find lasers, which power is more than 20W. VDX wrote me about power of laser in previous posts.

I found power supply for YAG laser:
Seller sent me some electric schematics (see attachments):
Maybe I just find a laser head?
For example this one:
Seller wrote, that it's 1064nm laser head of 50-200W.

... you'll need a frequency-doubled (1064:2 = 532nm) NdYAG or fiberlaser with really good beam quality to get enough energy density in the spot ...
