What not to do

I saw this on reddit and had to post it here for noobs. Maybe a thread full of errors, blunders, and bad design could be useful.

Anyway, to start things off, here's what I found:



You can never have too much lube, right? Wrong! There's enough grease there for a locomotive.

Don't lube your printer's belts, either! They will be destroyed by grease very quickly.

Wow! I had to click on the picture to get visible grease but that is putting it on with a trowel. As far as I have been able to see, the seals on the LM8UU bearings wipe off all of the grease anyway and much more tissue will be needed to wipe up after those leadscrews have run.
The grease that the linear bearings is delivered with O.K., but partly intended as a preservative. It may be useful to wash out and replace with a much thicker lithium grease for 3D printers although I am not sure what grease as I just use a smidgen of grease from a handy grease gun.
