How to translate gerber to STL ?

I want to use Repetier (Marlin firmware) to print the PCB. That's a given, not changeable.

Can't you use one of the many gerber to gcode converters?

Ok, what are they? Maybe I can try ?

STL is generic, it doesn't involve the physics of your printer.

When I did a Google search on 'gerber to gcode' there was a lot of hits. The first page had a couple of free ones.

The "G" in g-code actually stands for Gerber. The basic commands in both types of files are pretty much the same, but Gerber programs have evolved with a lot of PCB specific commands, where as g-code programs have evolved with a lot of CNC, and now 3D printer specific commands.

Both Flatcam and pcb2gcode are for routers, doing isolation-routing.

Repetier is a 3d printer software, and my process is printing the solder mask.

G-code is always dependent on the tools used. STL instead is a representation of the object to be generated.

But then, how on earth I have missed the Inkscape. Solves my problems. Thanks.
