Controlling two NEMA 17's from one Stepper Driver confused smiley

Hello,

I'm designing an H-bot 3d printer that uses two NEMA 17's from openbuilds for the Z-axis.
[openbuildspartstore.com]

I'm also using a Smoothie 5x and a dual extruder setup, so I can't sacrifice two of the stepper drivers on my smoothie board for the task.

My question is: How do I control these 1.68A/phase stepper motors from only one of my Smoothie board's on board outputs? Should I be looking for something like this?

Also, since the motor spec sheet says 1.68A/phase (and it's a 2 phase setup), does that mean that I only need 1.68A to run the stepper, or do I need 3.36A to run one motor?

Just connect the two motors in series and drive them from one output. There are diagrams showing how to connect two bipolar stepper motors in series on the web.
