Hi all,
I 've recently sourced a prusa i3 (box variant). Due to summer vacations, moved the prusa with me to my summer location, where a laptop/pc isn't always available and near the i3 printer, so i am slicing objects in my pc, move them to SD, and print them from SD.
But ...my prints aren't perfect (these are my first prints, i am a noob by the way), and i am trying to slice objects using various settings (using slic3r), trying to find the optimal settings. Was thinking of manipulating settings like speed/acceleration etc.
I altered the speed settings in slic3r and generated gcode, pasted to SD card, and printed it, but i didn't see any reduction in speed while it was making the object (in fact, i think, that it was printing in higher speeds than before when i used repetier host). Examined the generated gcode didn't see any command affecting speed ( is there any?). In the lcd (reprap discount 12864) noticed a speed value of 100, lowered it at 50, and printer started printing slower.
My question goes something like this :
When i slice an object using (in slic3r) specific settings (like speed, acceleration, extrusion multiplier, filament diameter, etc) do these settings get saved and affect the gcode and the print generated by slicer? Now, i am slicing objects with a speed of 50mm/sec (in slic3r), if i check the lcd when i print, it says 100. Is this 100, a % of the speed i sliced it (in this case 100% of 50mm/sec=50mm/sec) or is it 100mm/sec?
Thanks for your time, have an awesome summer.
PS : in case it matters i am using marlin firmware.
