Marlin config generator?
July 24, 2015 03:53PM
Hi all, I also posted this in "Firmware" section as I was not sure if that was the correct location to post this question. I havent been using my printer for a while and am now trying to beck into it. I recently purchased an old i3 of off CraigsList and I wanted to flash the RAPMS with the Marlin firmware. I could have sworn that about a year ago, I remember seeing somewhere that there is a tool out there that would allow you to basically auto generate the "config.h" section of Marlin for you, based on the input you provide? So, for example, you could select the type of board you're using, thermistor, etc and auto generate the config.h. Is this something that's already out and available out there, or am I just dreaming and perhaps a bit dillusional? =) I don;t mind going through the manual way, but if there's already a tool out there, I would rather use that. Thanks.

Hey thanks for the links madmike. I did see those in my search as well previously, but seem to have some issues. The first one (http://www.marlinfirmware.org/configurator/), in the Mother Board section, it seems to be stuck and I can not select any other type of board.... It seems that it's stuck on "GEN 7..... " and will not allow me to choose other types. The second link looked promising, but can't seem to generate the file for me for download, perhaps because of popup blocker. I will have to try the second link again when I get home as I can not change any browser settings on my PC at work.... =) Lastly, the third link seems to be down or may not even be up and running anymore.

I wonder now if this is something worth investigating further or perhaps try improving? I'm a developer so would the community benefit from something like this, or would you say that almost all 3ders and reprappers out there pretty much know how to do all this manually directly in Arduino?

I'd say we learn to manually do it, because of lack of options. Sounds good to me if you want to put the time in. Get with the Marlin developers and create something that can be expanded with future options.
