12/24v hot end?

Hi, I ordered a hotend but I didn't specify the type as in 12v or 24v. I need help how can I identify my hotend voltage type?

Use a multimeter to measure its resistance. It will be between 2.5 and 5 ohms if it is 12V, and between 10 and 20 ohms if it is 24V.

Will the resistance increase with longer cable and this method applies to all heater cartridge?

Unless your cables are too thin, they should not make an appreciable difference to the resistance. The figures I gave assume that the heater power is within a range of about 30W to 50W.

Thank you, I measured between 2 poles and gives me about 4ohms, what happens if I put wrong heater cartridge to the wrong board systems, will it fry my board or it will not fire up?

That's definitely a 12V heater then. Powering a 12V hot end heater from 24V might well damage it, but most printer electronics boards would probably survive the mistake. Powering a 24V heater from 12V would not damage anything.
