Z-axis only moving into one direction. need help
July 08, 2010 05:36AM
Hi RepRappers,

at the moment, I'm building my own Wooden-RepStrap.
But now I've a little (I hope so) problem: my z-axis is only moving into one direction.

I'm using the Techzone electronics with the newest RepRap Firmware.
If I swap the z-axis cable with the y-axis cable at the motherboard, the problem occur at the y-axis.
So I think its not a problem with the stepper controller or the cables.

I tried also the ReplicatorG soft- and firmware, but the Problem still there.

Can anyone help me?

Regards
Contantine

PS: I hope you understand me, because my english is not so good.

This problem is almost always the opto endstop.
If it is not connected to MIN, connected wrong, or not working then this is what happens.
Verify that z-axis opto endstop is working properly.

Hi again,

Sorry, but now I don't think ist the opto endstop.

Because when I swap the Y-axis with the Z-axis I don't touch the opto endstop and then the z-axis its working correctly.

Maybe the description of the problem isn't good.

It dosen't matter if I push the + or - button, the Z-axis moves in both case into the same direction.

I hope that help to solve my problem.

Are the motors wired up the same? Sounds like you might have the coils connected incorrectly.

... maybe issues with the DIR-signal?

To me it sounds like the direction pin between controller (Arduino or similar) and Stepper Motor Driver is disconnected. Steppers will move then just fine, but always in the same direction.

OK.
Then it could be possible that the connector isn't solderd correctly.
If I'm at home I check the connector.

Thanks very much.

Now I checked the soldering, and there really was a bad soldered pin.
Now it's working.

Thank you all very much for your help.
