Someone just got me a new hp chromebook laptop as a gift and I love it thing works flawless and is super fast. My question is. Is the 3d printer software compatible with a chromebook or not

You could use a Chromebook to control a printer with electronics that provides a good web-based interface, such as an Ormerod, or any other printer that uses Duet electronics. But you would still need a PC or similar to slice STL files to gcode files, unless and until there is a slicing program that runs on a Chromebook or in a browser, or a cloud-based slicing service. Even then, you would need to use a PC occasionally to install firmware upgrades.

Large delta printer [miscsolutions.wordpress.com], E3D tool changer, Robotdigg SCARA printer, Crane Quad and Ormerod

Disclosure: I design Duet electronics and work on RepRapFirmware, [duet3d.com].

OctoPrint is another option that would give the ability to slice files using Cura from a Chromebook. Not quite another "PC", but not slicing it natively on the Chromebook either.
