I finalized my modicum extruder recently and there has been some interest from people running bowden setups.
I am going to order parts and build a batch of 10 of these extruders. For fun and profit.
A few things to note.
Its going to take me 30 days to deliver these as sourcing the parts and arranging shipping and assembly takes time, I work a normal job. If the interest grows I will be doing a run of 20 or 30 of these.
As of now I have two people interested in purchasing one. The extruders will come assembled with pigtails ready to splice into your printer.
The price? 60USD shipped in the US via snail mail.
The specs?
- 2:1 reduction
- belt drive.
- Aluminum pulleys
- Stainless gears
- All ball bearing design.
- 1.75mm only design. I do not plan on doing a 3mm version.
- Black ABS plastic printed in .3mm layers. (I do not need to use high res)
- Tested up to 150mm/s with a .3mm layer height and .55mm nozzle. 200mm/s retract is not an issue.
All modicum extruders will be tested before shipping to reduce any issues.
This is sort of my own kickstarter and to really test the market. At some point I will open source the BOM/STL's for these. However I would like to recoup my time investment a bit before doing so. Hopefully you guys understand.
