Motors Only Moving in One Direction

After a couple of months of assembling my diytech i3x in my free time, it was time to load up the firmware and get it working. LOL, nope. I first tried using marlin, and the most I could coax out of the motors was a hum if I asked the motors to move an axis in the positive direction, or if I told it to home an axis. I then tried sprinter. This seems to be an improvement as now my X and Y axes move in the positive direction. The Z axis just hums when i ask it to do anything, and the extruder is completely unresponsive. I think I might have some DOA hardware, but I wanted to come here to see if anyone might know what is going on. Thank you!

If it only moves in one direction, it's probably a broken endstop wire. The stepper motor driver potentiometers sound like they need to be adjusted if nothing is moving.
