syringe madness!

syringes have alot of possibilities and capabilities that are very intriguing. so, i ordered a bunch of them online. they're actually really cheap, since they are intended to be used once, then disposed. that is great for us... because we can get a good deal. i ordered a variety of sizes of actual syringes, and a variety of sizes of needles. from 1mm down to like .25mm which should give some VERY fine detail.

i'm just worried that when i get the package my co-workers will think i'm a junkie. of course, its partially true: i'm addicted to reprap. =)

1 (SYRO60ML10E) 60 ml luer lock syr w/o $9.00 $9.00

Interesting things I would extrude with a syringe

* polyfilla support material
* melted wax for doing lost-wax casings (or just to make neat candles)
* fields metal / solder paste for reprapping circuits!!
* uv sensitive monomers for heatless reprapping
* chocolate for a tasty rendering of the reprap logo.

theres tons more... do you have any ideas?

Hey, syringes might also be a great way to make our polymorph rods too! When you have these could you try that out and let us know how it works?

one thing about syringes that I don't like, is that they have to be refilled or replaced every time they run out. That means that someone needs to be around to do this. I would like to turn my RepRap on and then have the option to go do something else. On the other hand this could possibly be avoided by using a very large syringe or using multiple smaller syringes.

multiple syringes you say..... let me do some calculations.

the largest syringes are 60ml each, and there are 10 / pack. thats 600ml, which is a decent amount of material. it would be pretty ridiculous, but then you would also be looking at a crazy print head.

that being said, your volume definitely is decreased.
