It says: now open up the host software and jog the x, y, and z axis.... what software is that?
Also... I am having a strange noise come out of my y-axis stepper when I plug in my power supply... any ideas? See the video below to understand.

You need
Printrun
. Follow the link and follow the directions. Very easy.
Maybe the trimpots are up too high for the y motor. You'll need to adjust them anyway.

Host software would be something like pronterface or repetier host.
The noise sounds normal to me. The thunk is when it's energized, and the hum is caused by the way the driver supplies power to the stepper.

pyserial keeps freezing up when I try to install it.... is it because I have 64 bit windows?
